Outsourced game productionGame Development Outsourcing Company: Full-Cycle, Co-Dev or Dedicated Teams
Capermint is a game development outsourcing company that delivers full games, co-development workstreams and dedicated teams for studios, publishers and brands in the US, Canada and worldwide. What outsourcing your game to Capermint covers

Capermint either owns a defined scope end to end or works inside your production as an extra team. You keep product direction and approvals; we supply the people, pipeline and delivery management.

Full-cycle, co-development or dedicated team: which fits
The right model depends on how much production leadership you have in-house: the less you have, the more delivery your partner should own and the more precise the written scope must be.
| Factor | Full-cycle project | Co-development | Dedicated team | Staff augmentation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What Capermint owns | The whole agreed scope, from design to release | A defined feature, mode or platform inside your game | Delivery of your roadmap items, under your priorities | The tasks your leads assign |
| What you provide | Vision, approvals and one decision owner | Engine access, repository, specifications and code-review rules | Roadmap, priorities and sprint reviews | Day-to-day management and tools |
| Pricing basis | Fixed price for the agreed scope | Fixed scope or monthly | Monthly per team | Monthly or hourly per specialist |
| Good fit for | Founders, brands and publishers without a team | Studios short of capacity before a milestone | Long roadmaps and live games | Studios that want to keep full control |
| Main risk to manage | Scope changes after sign-off | Integration and ownership of shared code | Keeping the team's backlog full | Your own management time |
Many projects move between models, for example a fixed-scope prototype followed by a dedicated team for production and LiveOps.
Choose a model with three questions
- Can you write a complete brief now? If yes, a fixed-scope project works; if the design will change with playtests, choose co-development or a dedicated team.
- Who will run production? With no producer on your side, choose full-cycle. With an experienced producer, co-development or staff augmentation keeps control in-house.
- Does the work continue after launch? Ongoing updates usually suit a dedicated team, because the same people keep the product knowledge.
What outsourcing to Capermint costs
Typical ranges we quote. Where your project lands depends on genre, platforms, art style, multiplayer and backend depth, game modes and launch content.
| Scope | Typical price (USD) | Typical timeline | What it usually covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prototype or single-game MVP (casual, puzzle or skill) | $10K–$40K | Set in scoping | One core loop on one or two platforms, with basic backend and analytics |
| Mid-scope multiplayer game | $40K–$120K | Set in scoping | Online multiplayer, player accounts, store integration and live content tools |
| Large custom game or multi-game platform | $120K+ | Phased; milestones set in scoping | Several modes or games, custom backend, admin tools and LiveOps |
| Ludo or a similar board game | From $5K–$10K for a single-platform basic build | About 12–20 weeks for a full-featured multi-platform app | Board rules, online play and multi-platform release, as scoped |
| Poker game or platform | $25K for an MVP to $200K+ for an enterprise platform | MVP 60–90 days; full multi-platform 4–6 months; white-label 30–45 days | Tables, tournaments, wallet and back office for real-money or social play |
| White-label or turnkey casino | $35K–$120K | 6–10 weeks | A branded casino platform for a licensed operator |
| Dedicated team or staff augmentation | Monthly fee by role and seniority; individual specialists monthly or hourly | Ongoing; team plan agreed after a scoping call | Designers, artists, engineers, QA and a producer, as needed |
Costs outside the development quote
- Developer accounts and fees for app stores and console platform programs
- Third-party engine, plugin, SDK and asset licenses
- Servers, hosting and backend services after launch
- Music, voice-over, licensed IP, marketing and user acquisition
- For real-money games: gaming licenses, lab certification, KYC, geolocation and payment fees
India vs Eastern Europe vs the US
Regional rates overlap more than many buyers expect. Clutch's software development pricing guide, built from verified client reviews, lists average rates of $25–$49 an hour in India and Ukraine and $50–$99 in the US and Poland; it does not break out game development. Rate alone is a weak guide: compare total price, team mix, seniority and milestones for the same written scope, plus your own review and integration time.

How outsourcing a game with us works
Seven steps from first call to a released, supported game; our process page covers each stage in more detail.
Brief and NDA
Share your idea, game design document or current build. An NDA is available before you send anything confidential.
Scoping call and proposal
We agree platforms, features, art style and the first milestone, then send a proposal with the engagement model, team, price, timeline and ownership terms.
Team and tools setup
We set up repositories, task boards, build pipelines and communication channels, or join yours. We schedule calls in US and Canadian business hours.
Prototype or first playable
The riskiest mechanic becomes playable first, so you can test the core loop before committing the full production budget.
Production sprints
Sprints with playable builds and demos at agreed milestones, so you review working software rather than status slides. Change requests are estimated and approved before work starts.
QA and release
Device and regression testing, performance tuning, store submission support and, for real-money games, the documentation that testing labs ask for.
Handover and LiveOps
Source code, art files and documentation are delivered on the terms in your contract, followed by updates, events and fixes if you keep the team on.
IP, privacy and market rules to settle first
Outsourcing changes who builds the game, not who is responsible for it. Settle ownership, data handling and market rules in writing before production starts.
Who owns the code and art
Ownership follows the contract, so put it in writing. In the US, a commissioned work is a work made for hire only if it falls in one of nine statutory categories and both parties sign a written work-for-hire agreement, and any transfer of copyright must be in a writing signed by the owner, so outsourcing contracts commonly add an express written assignment. In Canada, an assignment of copyright is valid only in writing signed by the owner. Capermint Technologies Pvt Ltd is an Indian company. Where Indian law applies, the Copyright Act, 1957 deems an assignment that states no term to last five years and presumes one that states no territory to cover India only, so your contract should name both. Each Capermint proposal sets out code ownership, licenses and handover terms. Our guide to what to agree before outsourcing lists the source files, licenses and account access to name.
Children's privacy in the US
If your game is directed to children under 13 in the US, or you know you collect personal information from them, the FTC's COPPA Rule applies. The amended Rule took effect on June 23, 2025, with a general compliance date of April 22, 2026. It requires separate verifiable parental consent before a child's personal information is disclosed to third parties, for example for targeted advertising, unless the disclosure is integral to the game or service. We build the consent flows and data handling your counsel specifies.
Real-money and social casino games
Real-money gaming is regulated jurisdiction by jurisdiction. Operators are responsible for licensing; we build to the technical requirements of the target jurisdiction. In the US, online casino is legal in only a handful of states, for example New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island; sports betting is legal in most states; and sweepstakes casinos face a growing list of state restrictions. In Canada, Ontario runs a regulated, open iGaming market through the AGCO and iGaming Ontario. In India, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits online money games and has been in force since May 1, 2026, so for India we build free-to-play, social and e-sports formats only. We build RNG and game math ready for independent testing by accredited labs such as GLI, iTech Labs or BMM; the operator or game owner obtains certification.

Game development outsourcing: buyer questions
What does a game development outsourcing company do?
A game development outsourcing company supplies the people and production pipeline to build part or all of a game for another business: a full game, a feature or platform port, art, QA or LiveOps, either as a fixed-scope project or as a team working inside the client's production. The client keeps product direction and approvals.
How much does it cost to outsource game development?
At Capermint, typical ranges are $10K–$40K for a single-game MVP, $40K–$120K for a mid-scope multiplayer game and $120K+ for a large custom game or platform. Dedicated teams are billed monthly by role and seniority, and individual specialists monthly or hourly. Store fees, engine and SDK licenses, hosting and marketing sit outside the development quote, and a final price follows a scoping call.
Is it cheaper to outsource game development to India than to Eastern Europe or the US?
Often at the hourly-rate level, but not always. Clutch's software development pricing guide lists average rates of $25–$49 an hour in India and Ukraine and $50–$99 in the US and Poland, with no separate figures for game development. Total cost depends on scope, team mix, seniority and milestones, so compare proposals written against the same brief and include your own review and integration time.
What is the difference between outsourcing, co-development and a dedicated team?
In full-cycle outsourcing, the partner owns a defined scope end to end against a written brief. In co-development, the partner builds a specific feature, mode or port inside your engine and repository alongside your team. A dedicated team works only on your roadmap for a monthly fee, under your priorities. Staff augmentation adds individual specialists that your own leads manage.
How do I choose a game development outsourcing partner?
Choose the engagement model first, then check comparable shipped work, the actual people proposed, client references and independent reviews. Ask for a sample proposal with milestones and acceptance criteria, and read the contract terms on code ownership, handover and change requests. Compare at least two proposals written against the same brief, and consider a paid first milestone before full production.
Who owns the IP and source code when I outsource game development?
Whoever the contract names, so put it in writing. In the US, commissioned work is a work made for hire only in specific cases, so contracts usually add a signed written copyright assignment. In Canada, an assignment must be in writing and signed by the owner. Where India's Copyright Act applies, an assignment silent on term or territory is limited to five years and to India. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will you sign an NDA before I share my game design document?
Yes. An NDA is available before you share a design document, build, artwork or business plan. An NDA protects confidential information during discussions, while ownership of the code and art you commission is set separately in the development contract. Review both documents before production starts.
Can I outsource only part of my game, such as art, QA or porting?
Yes. Many studios outsource a single workstream: 2D or 3D art, animation, UI, a multiplayer layer, a platform port, QA or post-launch updates. We work to your style guide, engine version, import specifications and code-review rules, and deliver into your repository or asset pipeline so your team can integrate the work directly.
How long does an outsourced game project take?
It depends on scope, and dates are set in scoping rather than promised up front. For reference, a poker MVP typically takes 60–90 days and a full multi-platform poker build 4–6 months, a full-featured multi-platform Ludo app takes about 12–20 weeks, and a white-label or turnkey casino launches in 6–10 weeks. Larger custom games are delivered in phased milestones.
How do you work with US and Canadian teams from India?
We schedule calls in US and Canadian business hours, share playable builds at agreed milestones and report progress against the milestone plan. You get access to the builds and the task board, and, if you prefer, we work in a repository owned by your organization, with code ownership and handover terms set in the contract.
Can Capermint build real-money or casino games?
Yes, for licensed operators and in markets where the format is legal. Operators are responsible for licensing; we build to the technical requirements of the target jurisdiction, with RNG and game math ready for testing by accredited labs such as GLI, iTech Labs or BMM. In India, where online money games are prohibited, we build free-to-play, social and e-sports formats only. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can we start with a small paid prototype?
Yes. A prototype or first playable is a common first milestone: the riskiest mechanic is built and tested before you commit to full production. Its price depends on scope, and a complete single-game MVP typically costs $10K–$40K. What you learn from the prototype feeds a firmer production estimate, team plan and timeline.
