Dedicated Roblox and Luau talentHire Roblox Developers: Dedicated Luau Talent
Capermint provides dedicated Roblox developers (Luau scripters, builders, 3D and UI artists, QA) who join your team monthly or deliver a fixed scope, for studios, brands and agencies in the US, Canada and worldwide. Monthly rates and start dates are set in a scoping call; fixed-scope work typically runs $10K–$40K for a single-game MVP.
What hiring Roblox developers includes
When you hire Roblox developers through Capermint, you add specialists who build in Roblox Studio and Luau, the scripting language Roblox derived from Lua 5.1, to a game you own. You set the priorities; they work in your sprints, repository and Roblox group, with the access you control.
This page is for teams that want people on their roadmap. If you want us to build and launch a complete experience, our Roblox game development company page covers full-service delivery.

Roles you can hire
Luau gameplay scripter
Client-server gameplay with server-owned state, validated RemoteEvents, tools, NPCs, combat, obby or simulator mechanics, in modular code your team can extend.
Systems and data engineer
DataStores for saved progress, inventories and leaderboards; MemoryStore and MessagingService for cross-server features; Open Cloud for external tools.
Builder and level designer
Maps, hubs, obby courses and lighting built for content streaming, with part and memory budgets agreed up front to keep it playable on lower-end phones.
3D modeler and animator
Characters, props, environments and animations imported into Studio with clean collision and mobile-sized textures. Need more art? See 3D modeling artists.
UI/UX designer
Menus, shops, HUDs and onboarding that work on touch, keyboard and gamepad and adapt to phone, desktop and console screens.
Game designer
Core loop, progression, economy and monetization with passes, developer products and subscriptions, within Roblox rules. You can also hire game designers.
QA and LiveOps support
Device-matrix testing, exploit checks and regression passes before each update, plus events and funnels that show onboarding, return visits and purchases.
Freelancer, dedicated developer or full-service studio
There are five common ways to hire Roblox developers. They differ in who manages the work, how you pay and how much risk stays with you.
| Option | Good fit for | Who manages the work | How you pay | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer (Roblox Talent Hub, general freelance marketplaces) | One bounded task, such as a UI fix or one DataStore system | You | Per task or hourly; some ask for Robux | Shipped experiences, a code sample, written IP terms |
| In-house hire | A long roadmap with a steady budget | You | Salary, recruiting and benefits | Time to hire and how you keep Roblox-specific skills on staff |
| Dedicated developer from Capermint (staff augmentation) | Adding Luau, art or QA capacity to a team with a producer | You set priorities; Capermint stays the contracting party | Monthly | Overlap hours, onboarding plan, code review rules |
| Dedicated Roblox team (co-development) | A feature stream or update schedule run alongside your core team | Shared: a Capermint lead works with your producer | Monthly | Sprint reports, definition of done, release process |
| Full-service project | A complete experience planned, built and launched for you | Capermint | Fixed scope or milestones | See full-service Roblox development |
Which option fits your project?
- One small task you can review yourself: a freelancer can be enough. Roblox's Talent Hub on the Creator Hub lets creators show their work and find collaborators, but review shipped work and code yourself.
- A backlog and a producer, but too few hands: a dedicated developer.
- Several roles at once, such as scripting, building and QA: a dedicated team.
- No in-house game team: a full-service project. Brands can start with our guide to commissioning a Roblox experience.
- A learning experience for schools or training: see Roblox educational game development.
Cost to hire Roblox developers
Cost depends on the engagement model, the roles and their seniority, and how much of the work is fixed scope versus an open backlog. The figures below are Capermint's typical ranges for hired developers and fixed-scope work packages; a final quote follows a scoping call. Commissioning a complete branded experience, with rights and launch planning? Use our Roblox game development company page instead.
| Engagement | Typical price (USD) | Timeline | What it usually covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated Roblox developer (one role) | Monthly; quoted by role and seniority | Start date set in scoping; term set in the contract | One Luau scripter, builder, 3D or UI artist, or QA engineer working in your sprints |
| Dedicated Roblox team | Monthly; quoted by team mix | Start date set in scoping; scale up or down per contract terms | For example a Luau engineer, a builder or 3D artist, a UI designer and QA, with a Capermint lead |
| Fixed scope: single-game MVP | $10K–$40K | Milestones set in scoping; first playable comes first | One core loop, saved progress, a basic shop and UI, tested on agreed devices |
| Fixed scope: mid-scope multiplayer | $40K–$120K | Phased; milestones set in scoping | Several activities, server-validated multiplayer, progression, an in-game economy and LiveOps hooks |
| Fixed scope: large live experience | $120K+ | Phased; milestones set in scoping | A persistent world with several modes, external services through Open Cloud and a regular content pipeline |
What moves the price
- Roles and seniority: a senior systems engineer costs more than a builder
- How fixed the scope is: an open backlog suits monthly billing; a defined feature list can be priced as a project
- Multiplayer and data: trading, cross-server features and saved progress add engineering and testing
Costs outside the development quote
- Promotion, such as Roblox Ads Manager campaigns or creator partnerships
- The refundable publishing fee or Plus/Premium subscription Roblox requires before a game can reach Roblox Kids and Select accounts, if you target those audiences
- Licensed music, assets, plugins or third-party IP
- Legal review of IP, privacy and advertising terms
Freelance hourly rates vary widely by experience and region. Compare total cost, including your own review time, QA and art, not hourly rates alone. Capermint figures are typical ranges.
How to hire Roblox developers with Capermint
Six steps take you from a first call to developers working in your repository. The same approach is described on our process page.
Share your brief
Send the experience link or concept, the roles you need, your backlog, budget range, release dates and preferred overlap hours.
Scoping call
We map roles and seniority and pick the engagement model. The proposal sets price, start date, reporting and code-ownership terms.
Profile review and interviews
You review the profiles we propose and interview the developers who would join your team before the engagement starts.
Contract and onboarding
Contract, NDA and IP terms are signed before access. Then you grant Roblox group roles, Team Create permissions, repository and task-tracker access.
Sprints and reporting
Developers work in your sprint cadence, join demos and code reviews, and report what is done, what is next and what is blocked.
Scale, hand over or continue
Add roles for a launch or event, scale down after it, or hand the work back to your team with documentation, source and place files.
Skills to check before you hire a Roblox developer
Whether you hire through Capermint or elsewhere, test these skills on real tasks rather than general coding quizzes.
| Skill | What good looks like | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Luau and the client-server model | The server owns game state; every RemoteEvent is validated; code is modular and typed where useful | Ask how they would stop a client from granting itself currency or items |
| Data and saved progress | DataStore calls with retries, session locking and versioned data, so progress is not lost or duplicated | Ask what happens when a player joins a second server before the first one saves |
| Performance | Content streaming, part and memory budgets, and frame rates tested on lower-end phones | Ask them to profile a slow place and explain what they would change first |
| Monetization within the rules | Passes, developer products and subscriptions; all outcomes and odds shown for paid random items | Ask them to explain Roblox's paid random items policy |
| Collaboration | Team Create, Git-based version control (for example through Rojo) and code reviews | Ask how they hand over source and place files |
| Safety and platform policy | Maturity questionnaire, text filtering and the chat and audience rules | Ask how Roblox's chat and audience rules affect your game |
Roblox platform rules and market rules
Roblox sets rules for every experience, and local laws add rules for brands, advertisers and anyone collecting personal data. We build to Roblox's current policies and the technical requirements of your target markets; as the publisher, you remain responsible for the experience, its account and its marketing.
Roblox platform rules
Since January 2026, Roblox has required a facial age check before users can chat, wherever chat is available. Roblox restricts the playability of experiences without content maturity information, so every game needs a completed Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire. Since June 16, 2026, Roblox Kids (ages 5–8) and Roblox Select (ages 9–15) accounts only see games that meet extra requirements: a verified, age-checked creator account with 2-Step Verification, a refundable per-game publishing fee or an active Plus/Premium subscription, a suitable maturity label and an engagement and safety evaluation. Since May 4, 2026, ads other than Roblox-operated ad units fall under the Advertising Integrations Policy: campaign assets must be registered before players see them, games may not call third-party ad or measurement services, and ads may not be personalized for users under 18.
United States and Canada
In the US, the FTC's amended COPPA Rule took effect on June 23, 2025, and full compliance has been required since April 22, 2026. It matters whenever you or your brand collect personal information from children under 13, for example through a contest, a sign-up page or an external service your experience connects to; Roblox also limits off-platform links inside experiences. In Canada, Quebec's Consumer Protection Act prohibits commercial advertising that targets children under 13, so branded experiences for Quebec audiences need a review with counsel.
Global markets, including India
We also work with teams in the UK and EU, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and APAC, where children's privacy and advertising rules differ. In India, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 and its 2026 Rules, in force since May 1, 2026, prohibit online money games, so for India we build free-to-play, social and e-sports formats only.
No gambling or real-money mechanics on Roblox
Roblox's Community Standards ban simulated and real-money gambling and prohibit exchanging Robux, real money or items of value for gambling. Paid random items need all outcomes and numerical odds shown before purchase, and some players are restricted from them. We do not build casino, betting or cash-prize mechanics on Roblox. For licensed real-money products outside Roblox, operators are responsible for licensing; we build to the technical requirements of the target jurisdiction.

Hire Roblox developers: frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions buyers ask most before they hire a Roblox developer or team.
How do I hire Roblox developers?
List the roles you need (Luau scripter, builder, 3D or UI artist, QA), your backlog, budget and overlap hours. Then pick a channel: Roblox's Talent Hub or a freelance marketplace for single tasks, a recruiter for in-house staff, or a studio such as Capermint for dedicated developers billed monthly. Review shipped work and agree IP terms in writing before you grant access.
How much does it cost to hire a Roblox developer?
At Capermint, dedicated Roblox developers are billed monthly at a rate set by role and seniority, quoted after a scoping call. Fixed-scope work follows typical ranges: $10K–$40K for a single-game MVP, $40K–$120K for a mid-scope multiplayer experience and $120K+ for a large live experience. Freelance rates vary widely by experience and region, so compare total cost, not hourly rates alone.
Where can I find Roblox developers for hire?
The main channels are Roblox's Talent Hub on the Creator Hub, where creators show their work and find collaborators; general freelance marketplaces; recruiters for full-time staff; and studios that provide dedicated developers or full-service delivery. Freelance channels suit single, bounded tasks. Studios suit work that needs several roles, continuity when people change, and one party accountable for delivery.
Should I hire a freelance Roblox scripter or a dedicated developer?
Hire a freelancer for a bounded task you can review yourself, such as a UI fix or one DataStore system. Hire a dedicated developer when you have an ongoing backlog, need someone in your sprints every week, or want continuity if a person leaves. A dedicated team suits several roles working in parallel on a regular update schedule.
What skills should a Roblox developer have?
Look for strong Luau and a clear grasp of Roblox's client-server model: server-owned game state, validated RemoteEvents and exploit checks. Add DataStore persistence with retries and session locking, performance work for phones, UI that works on touch, keyboard and gamepad, and knowledge of Roblox monetization rules. Collaboration matters too: Team Create, version control and readable, documented code.
Can a Capermint Roblox developer join my existing team?
Yes. Under a staff augmentation or co-development engagement, the developer works in your sprints, repository, task tracker and Roblox group with the permissions you grant. You set the priorities, and Capermint stays the contracting party. We schedule calls in US and Canadian business hours and agree overlap hours, reporting and code review rules during scoping.
Who owns the code and the Roblox experience?
Ownership is set in the contract. With Capermint, the code, place files and assets created for you are delivered on the ownership terms in your agreement. We recommend that your own Roblox group or account publishes the experience, so you control access, earnings and listing settings. Licensed assets, plugins and music can carry separate terms, so keep an inventory. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can I pay Roblox developers in Robux?
Capermint quotes in US dollars under a written contract. Some freelancers accept Robux, but Robux only becomes cash through Roblox's Developer Exchange (DevEx), which requires at least 30,000 earned Robux and pays a standard rate of 0.0038 USD per earned Robux. A cash contract is also easier to document for tax records, payment milestones and IP terms.
Can your developers take over or fix an existing Roblox game?
Yes, after a code review. Share the experience link, the access you can authorize and the problem: bugs, exploits, slow loading on phones, lost data or a feature backlog. A developer reviews the code and place structure, then proposes fixes and an estimate. Changes to a live game should be tested in a separate place first and released in small updates.
Which Roblox rule changes affect my game?
Three changes matter most. Since January 2026, users need a facial age check to chat. Since June 16, 2026, Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts only see games that meet extra publishing requirements, including a suitable maturity label and an engagement and safety evaluation. Since May 4, 2026, ads other than Roblox-operated ad units fall under the Advertising Integrations Policy.
Can a Roblox experience include gambling or cash prizes?
No. Roblox's Community Standards ban simulated and real-money gambling and prohibit exchanging Robux, real money or items of value for gambling. Paid random items are allowed only with all outcomes and numerical odds shown before purchase, and some players are restricted from them. Capermint does not build casino, betting or cash-prize mechanics on Roblox. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you work with teams outside the US and Canada?
Yes. Alongside US and Canadian teams, we work with studios, brands and agencies in the UK and EU, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, India and APAC. Children's privacy and advertising rules differ by country, so confirm them with counsel. In India, online money games are prohibited, so we build free-to-play, social and e-sports formats only. This is general information, not legal advice.
