Key facts

What online casino software is and what it includes

Online casino software is the set of systems an operator uses to run casino games online, for real money or social play. It covers the player website and apps, the player account management (PAM) core, wallet and cashier, KYC, AML and geolocation tools, bonus and CRM tools, the game catalog delivered through a remote gaming server (RGS) or aggregator, and the back office.

Buyers searching for casino software providers often mean one of three different kinds of company:

  • Game content providers make slots, table, crash and live dealer games and certify them for each market.
  • Platform providers supply the PAM, wallet, compliance and back office an operator brand runs on, sold as white-label, turnkey or licensed casino platform software.
  • Development studios such as Capermint design, build and integrate platform modules and games to the buyer's specification, and deliver code and documentation on the terms agreed in the contract.

Capermint works in the third group. We deliver complete platforms on a white-label, turnkey or custom basis, single modules for a platform you already run, and the games on top.

Platform modules

What you get: the modules inside a casino platform

Most online casino software solutions use the same building blocks. We build them as one platform or as single modules for the system you already run.

Player account management (PAM)

Registration, profiles, limits, self-exclusion flags, session history and account status. PAM is the system of record regulators audit, so we design it around the data your license requires.

Wallet, cashier and ledger

A double-entry ledger for deposits, withdrawals, bets, wins, bonuses and reversals, with cash and bonus balances kept apart. The cashier connects card, bank, e-wallet and local methods such as ACH or Interac.

KYC, AML and responsible gaming

Identity and age checks through your verification vendor, risk scoring, transaction monitoring, deposit and loss limits, cool-off and self-exclusion, with hooks for state or national exclusion lists.

Geolocation and market rules

Location checks before play where regulators require them, per-market game and bonus availability, currency and language settings, and automatic blocking of any game not approved in a player's market.

Bonus engine and loyalty

Rule-based welcome offers, free spins, cashback, wagering requirements, tournaments, missions and VIP tiers. Bonus terms are stored with each grant, so audits and player disputes can be traced.

Game aggregation, RGS and lobby

One integration layer for third-party content and your own games, a remote gaming server for proprietary titles, and a lobby with search, categories, jackpots and per-market catalog control. See casino game aggregator and RGS development.

Back office and reporting

Support tools, manual adjustments with audit trails, risk queues, payment approvals, GGR and NGR reports, and regulator exports for finance and compliance teams.

Player front end and apps

A branded lobby, onboarding, cashier and account area for responsive web, PWA and native iOS or Android, built for quick deposits on small screens.

CRM, affiliates and data

Player segments, triggered messages and campaign data; affiliate tracking and commission reports; and APIs that feed your BI, marketing and data warehouse tools.

Need games too? We also build crash games, poker platforms, bingo games and slot game art.

Build vs buy

Build or buy: choosing a delivery model

Build versus buy is really three choices. White-label rents a finished platform. Turnkey gives you a ready platform, configured and run under your own license. Custom builds the platform, or the parts that set you apart, to your specification. Many operators move from one model to another as they grow.

Five questions to answer before you choose

  • Which markets and licenses? US states and Ontario need your own license and systems that meet their technical standards.
  • How fast must you launch? Under three months points to white-label or turnkey.
  • What makes you different? If your edge is marketing and content, buy. If it is product, such as game formats or loyalty, build those parts.
  • How much revenue share can you accept? A share that is cheap at launch can cost more than a custom build once revenue grows.
  • Who runs the technology after launch? A custom platform needs an engineering team: hire one, or keep ours on a dedicated-team engagement.

If you plan to buy online casino software, ask every vendor about code ownership, data export, revenue share and exit terms. Our guide to white-label vs turnkey vs custom iGaming models goes deeper.

Which Capermint service fits? Choose turnkey casino solutions for a branded launch in weeks, custom iGaming platform development if you want your own engineered platform, casino game aggregator development if you only need content integration, and sweepstakes casino software for US sweepstakes models.

Cost and timeline

Price bands and launch timelines

These are the price bands we publish for casino and iGaming builds. Where your project lands depends on markets, verticals, vendors, game integrations, native apps and back-office depth.

  • Gaming license, supplier registration and application fees, and legal counsel
  • Game provider or aggregator fees, often charged as a share of GGR on that content
  • Independent lab testing and certification of games and RNG
  • Per-check fees for KYC, AML screening and geolocation
  • Payment processing fees and reserves

Tech stack

Tech stack and integrations

We choose the stack per project, based on load, hosting rules and the team that will run the platform after launch. These are the patterns we scope most often.

LayerTypical choicesWhy it matters
Game clientsHTML5/WebGL and UnityThe same game runs in the browser and inside native apps
Player front endResponsive web, PWA, native iOS and AndroidApp store rules for real-money apps differ by store and country
Core servicesSeparate PAM, wallet, bonus and game-session services with event streamsScale or replace one module without rewriting the rest
DataRelational ledger database, session cache, BI warehouseRegulator reports depend on clean, append-only transaction records
InfrastructurePublic cloud or co-located servers, in-state or in-market where requiredSome US states require wagering servers to sit inside the state, and other markets set data-location rules
SecurityEncryption, role-based back-office access, audit logs, penetration testing before launchExpected by regulators and payment partners

Integrations we typically connect

  • Game aggregators, direct game provider APIs and your own RGS, subject to your commercial agreements (how a remote gaming server works)
  • Payment providers for cards, ACH, Interac, e-wallets, open banking and, where legal, crypto payments
  • KYC and identity verification, AML screening and transaction monitoring vendors
  • Geolocation services required by US state regulators
  • CRM, marketing automation, affiliate tracking and BI tools
  • Odds feeds when casino shares a wallet with a sportsbook platform

Need extra hands on one integration rather than a full project? Hire casino integration developers through a dedicated-team engagement.

Compliance and markets

Compliance: what the software must support in each market

Real-money gaming is regulated one jurisdiction at a time. Your license sets the technical rules, and the software must prove compliance through logs, reports and lab testing. Capermint does not operate casinos or issue licenses. Operators are responsible for licensing; we build to the technical requirements of the target jurisdiction.

United States

Real-money online casino is legal in only a handful of states, for example New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island. Each state sets its own rules for operator and supplier licensing, geolocation, age verification, server location and game testing, and state laws change, so confirm the current list with counsel. Sports betting is legal in most states under state licensing. Sweepstakes and social casinos operate under sweepstakes law with dual currency and a free alternative method of entry (AMOE), and a growing list of states restricts them, including California from January 1, 2026 under AB 831. See our sweepstakes compliance architecture guide and real-money games in the USA.

Canada

Ontario runs a regulated, open iGaming market. Operators register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, and the AGCO also registers iGaming suppliers. The AGCO's Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming, in force since April 4, 2022, cover responsible gambling, player account management, game integrity and the protection of assets. Outside Ontario, online casino is offered mainly through provincial lottery and gaming corporations, and provincial rules are changing, so check the current position in each province.

Other licensed markets

Regulators in the UK, Malta and the rest of Europe, Brazil and Latin America, and Africa each set their own technical standards, testing rules and data requirements. In India, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits online money games, so for India we build free-to-play, social and e-sports formats only. Rules change often, so confirm requirements with local counsel before you scope.

RNG and certification

We build RNG and game math ready for independent testing by accredited labs such as GLI, iTech Labs or BMM. Certification is obtained by the operator or game owner. Read what an RNG certificate is before you budget for testing.

How we work

How our casino software development works

Seven steps from first call to a live, supported platform. On a turnkey launch, steps 3 to 6 fit inside the 6–10 week window; custom builds run them in phases. See our process.

  1. Market and license mapping

We list your target markets, license status and the technical rules that follow from them: geolocation, hosting location, KYC, responsible gaming tools, reporting and game testing.

  2. Scoping and the build-or-buy decision

We map each module to white-label, turnkey or custom, agree the integrations and vendors, and fix scope, price, timeline and code-ownership terms in the proposal.

  3. UX and architecture

Mobile-first lobby, onboarding, cashier and account flows, plus the service architecture, data model and hosting plan.

  4. Build and integrate

We build PAM, wallet, bonus engine, back office and front end, and connect games, payments, KYC and geolocation vendors in short sprints with regular demos.

  5. QA, security and certification readiness

Functional, load and security testing, ledger reconciliation, and the RNG and game math documentation labs ask for.

  6. Launch and handover

Staged go-live, monitoring, runbooks and training for your operations team, with code and documentation delivered on the terms in your contract.

  7. Operate and extend

A dedicated team adds markets, games, verticals and features after launch, or your in-house team takes over with our support.

FAQ

Online casino software: frequently asked questions

What is online casino software?

Online casino software is the technology an operator uses to run casino games online: player site and apps, player account management, wallet and cashier, KYC and AML tools, bonus engine, game aggregation and back office. Operators buy it as white-label, turnkey or custom software.

What modules does an online casino platform need?

At minimum you need player account management (PAM), a wallet and cashier with a transaction ledger, KYC and AML checks, responsible gaming tools, a game lobby connected to an aggregator or RGS, a bonus engine and a back office with reporting. Regulated US states also require geolocation, and most markets expect regulator reports and audit logs.

How much does online casino software cost?

Capermint's published bands are $10K–$40K for a single casino game MVP, $35K–$120K for a white-label or turnkey casino, $60K–$180K for a custom single-vertical platform and $200K–$500K+ for a custom multi-vertical platform. License, game content, lab testing, KYC, payment and hosting fees sit outside the development quote. A final price follows a scoping call.

How long does it take to launch an online casino?

A white-label or turnkey casino typically launches in 6–10 weeks once licensing, payment and game provider agreements are in place. Custom platforms are delivered in phases, with dates set during scoping. Licensing can take longer than the software, so start your application early.

Should I build or buy casino software?

Buy white-label or turnkey software when speed and low upfront cost matter most and your edge is marketing or content. Build custom modules when your edge is product, when you plan to enter several regulated markets, or when a revenue share would cost more than owning the code. Many operators combine a turnkey core with custom features.

What is the difference between white-label, turnkey and custom casino software?

White-label rents a branded casino on a provider's shared platform; the provider keeps the code and usually takes a revenue share. Turnkey gives you a ready platform deployed and configured for your brand under your own license. Custom builds the platform, or selected modules, to your specification, with ownership terms set in the contract.

Does Capermint provide the gaming license?

No. Capermint is a software development studio and does not operate casinos or issue licenses. Operators are responsible for licensing; we build to the technical requirements of the target jurisdiction.

In which US states is online casino legal?

Real-money online casino is legal in only a handful of states, for example New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island, each with its own regulator and licensing model. Sweepstakes casinos operate under sweepstakes law, which a growing number of states restrict. State laws change, so confirm the current position with counsel before you scope.

Can you build casino software for Ontario and the rest of Canada?

Yes. For Ontario we build to the AGCO Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming, while the operator registers with the AGCO and contracts with iGaming Ontario. Outside Ontario, online casino is offered mainly through provincial lottery and gaming corporations, which set their own supplier requirements, and provincial rules are changing.

Who certifies the casino games and RNG?

The operator or game owner obtains certification from an accredited lab. We build RNG and game math ready for independent testing by accredited labs such as GLI, iTech Labs or BMM, and we prepare the math reports and documentation the lab asks for.
